The multi-plate clutch is located in the multitronic transmission housing and controls the flow of power between the engine and the gearbox, operating primarily when starting acceleration.
Contrary to torque converters in conventional automatic transmissions, various start-off profiles can be realised via the electronic management of the multi-plate clutch. As a result, rapid power transmission or spontaneous response and slow acceleration are both possible.
