Recycling

Recycling means returning materials that would otherwise be scrapped or disposed of to the new-product cycle. With respect to automobiles, the focus of recycling to date has been on metals. However, current practice is increasingly uses as much of the non-metallic content of the vehicle as possible. Suitability for recycling is a characteristic that is already being taken into account during design.

Even before the recycling of scrap, Audi tries to avoid producing scrap. For that reason, most of the components and raw materials are delivered by suppliers in re-usable packaging. 95 percent of all the scrap created during production is recycled. Furthermore, materials used in the car are marked so that clear identification at the beginning of the recycling process is made easier.
