The Mille Miglia and its mystique

An all-time legend – the thousand-mile event first run from Brescia to Rome and back in 1927. Revived in 1977 for classic cars, it still takes place through magnificent scenery over a public-road route 1,600 kilometres long, and exerts an immense attraction on motor-sport fans and fine car enthusiasts from all over the world. For the truly rare and exotic classics among the sports and competition cars, a Mille Miglia entry is almost a duty – and Audi sees it this way too. This year’s event, starting as usual from Brescia, was held from May 17th to 20th, and Audi Tradition has accepted the challenge and entered three Wanderer W 25 K cars dating from 1936, 1937 and 1938, a DKW Monza and a DKW F 91 ‘Monte Carlo Rally’ model.
