Active head restraints

If a collision should occur, the active head restraints reduce the risk of the seat occupant suffering what is known as a ‘whiplash’ injury to the upper spine or neck. When the car is struck violently from the rear, a mechanical lever system integrated into the seat back swings the head restraint forward and thus reduces its distance from the back of the seat occupant’s head. This greatly enhances protection against injury in the cervical vertebral area.
