Why run the engine when you’re standing still?
If you’re stuck in traffic, what’s the point of wasting fuel by letting the engine idle needlessly? Once up to operating temperature, Audi start/stop technology cuts the engine when the car is stationary and the brake pedal is depressed. The engine immediately and quietly starts again as soon as you release the brake pedal. The whole process is smooth and simple but it can be disabled at the touch of a button if required.
In the normal driving cycle the start-stop system reduces fuel consumption by around 0.4 litres every 100km and also reduces CO2 emissions.
