A power plant befitting a high-performance sports car
At the heart of the Audi R8 Coupé lies a 4.2-litre FSI engine with eight cylinders in ‘V’ formation. It’s directly descended from Audi’s racing cars but refined for even more sustained reliability and driving pleasure.
For optimal weight distribution, the R8 is constructed in a mid-engine configuration. This helps balance with a lower centre of gravity and optimise road holding – much the same as in a Formula 1 racing car.
