The majority of the Audi R8’s construction is completed by hand and then subjected to a series of quality-assurance tests.
For example, 95 lasers are used to check 220 measurements to 1/10th mm. Under 10,000 watts of light, the paintwork is inspected – Audi R8 test personnel like to be able to see what they’re doing. And then the R8 is blasted from all angles with 1,200 litres of water in just six minutes to check for leaks. If one drop of water passes through, the car doesn’t.
