quattro®: Assured cornering, superb control
Audi’s renowned four-wheel-drive technology, quattro provides optimal drive delivery to each wheel continuously, for superior handling and phenomenal grip – even in less than perfect driving conditions.
In 1980, the Audi quattro was the first permanent four-wheel drive production car. So while the technology is thoroughly tried and tested, it has also been enhanced and evolved ever since it was first introduced.
TT with quattro: The Haldex® clutch
Featured on Audi TT quattro models, the latest generation of the Haldex clutch ensures that engine power is permanently distributed between the front and rear axles as and when required. The general principle behind the Haldex clutch is it always allocates the driving forces to the axle with the better traction. For instance, if the front wheels begin to lose traction, it channels power to the rear.
