Introducing the multi-plate clutch
The task of channelling the massive power of the TT RS engine onto the road – whatever the situation – is masterfully handled by the upgraded TT RS quattro® drivetrain.
At its heart is The Haldex® clutch, an electronically controlled, hydraulic multi-plate clutch that controls the flow of power between the engine and the gearbox. If a situation calls for it, the clutch redirects a majority of the torque input from the front wheels to the rear wheels. And it does so in a fraction of a second.
Fuel efficiency
As well as offering outstanding traction and superb stability, the upgraded quattro drivetrain also helps reduce fuel consumption. This is because when you are waiting at traffic lights, for example, the electronics reduce the tendency to creep forward by decoupling the engine and gearbox.
