In addition to the front side airbags and the head airbags, what’s known as an interaction airbag is installed in the front. Within system limits, this provides the driver and front passenger with protection in the event of a side impact. The interaction airbag deploys between the front seats. In the event of a side impact, this lowers as far as possible the chance of two front occupants colliding with one another, or of the driver colliding with the empty front passenger seat, and reduces the risk of injury
