At Audi, innovation drives everything we do and quattro is proof of that. The latest system delivers power to each wheel with precision, ensuring maximum traction, control and a truly dynamic drive.

Electric quattro

The electric quattro system provides all-wheel drive via an electric motor at the front and rear of the car. The torque is continuously fully variable between the front and rear axles and can adjust within a fraction of second to ensure the correct level of traction.

quattro with ultra technology

The intelligent quattro all-wheel ultra technology continuously monitors the driving conditions and distributes the power to the front and rear axles as the situation dictates. If the driving situation does not require all-wheel drive, the entire rear axle can be decoupled from the drive train which can significantly improve efficiency.

Hydraulic multi-plate clutch

Designed for models that have the engine mounted across the chassis. This system has a front wheel bias in normal driving conditions, but constantly analyses traction, sending up to 100% of the power to the rear wheels when needed.

Self-locking centre differential

The self-locking centre differential has 50:50 power bias dividing the torque equally between the front and rear wheels. The system constantly analyses road conditions and can send up to 100% of the power to the front or rear. Some models, such as the RS range, have a rear wheel bias, sending the majority of the power to the back for a sportier driving experience.
