Supreme power, beautifully delivered
The outstanding technical highlight of the Audi W12 quattro is the new engine – a compact power unit of twelve cylinders arranged in a “W” pattern. Audi’s engineers have successfully bored out the previous models 6.0 litre engine to 6.3 litres and incorporated FSI direct petrol injection in order to maximize performance and efficiency. As a result power has increased by 50PS to 500PS and torque has risen to 625 Nm - needless to say, this engine is supremely powerful.
As a result, the A8 L W12 can cruise serenely to 62mph in just 4.9 seconds, and continue to a top speed of 155mph. And with the help of FSI technology, fuel economy of up to 23.5mpg is achievable according to the combined cycle test – a 12% improvement over the outgoing model which results in CO2 output of 278g/km.
